Perfectly Norman

By Tom Percival

Perfectly Norman follows a boy who suddenly grows a pair of colorful wings. Although he initially loves them, Norman begins to worry about what other people will think and hides his wings beneath a heavy coat. But hiding an important part of himself leaves him uncomfortable and unhappy. As Norman finds the courage to let his wings show, he discovers the joy that comes from accepting and celebrating what makes him unique.

With its simple metaphor and expressive illustrations, the story creates a gentle way to talk with children about individuality, belonging, self-acceptance, and the pressure to fit in.
