After the Fall
By Dan Santat
After the Fall imagines what happens to Humpty Dumpty after his famous fall. Although he has physically recovered, Humpty is left with a fear of heights that keeps him from doing many of the things he once enjoyed, including getting close to the birds he loves.
As Humpty gradually finds the courage to face his fear, the story offers children an accessible way to understand how a difficult or frightening experience can continue to affect us even after the immediate danger has passed. With humor, warmth, and a hopeful ending, it explores resilience, recovery, and the confidence that can come from taking small steps toward something that once felt impossible.
