Dark Cloud

By Anna Lazowski
Illustrated by Penny Neville-Lee

Dark Cloud follows Abigail, a young girl whose depression takes the form of a dark cloud that follows her through everyday life. Sometimes it appears as worries, fog, or a shadow that makes the things she usually enjoys feel more difficult. As Abigail begins to understand her cloud, she discovers that it can change in size and that moments of connection, support, and joy can help her find some relief. The story offers children a compassionate, visual way to recognize and talk about depression without suggesting that difficult feelings simply disappear.
