Our Roof is Blue

Our Roof Is Blue follows two siblings in Puerto Rico whose home is severely damaged by a hurricane. After the storm, their roof is temporarily replaced by a bright blue tarp, and Antonio, once a lively storyteller, stops speaking. His sister stays by his side as their family and community begin rebuilding, using imagination and connection to help him gradually feel safe again.

The story offers children an accessible way to understand that traumatic experiences can affect people differently, sometimes changing the way they communicate, behave, or engage with the world around them. At the same time, it offers a hopeful picture of recovery through family support, community, creativity, and time.
